Honoring two founding board members
This spring, family, community, and partners came together to honor two of our founding board members: Luki Akelkok Sr. of Ekwok Village Council and Herman Nelson Sr. of New Koliganek Village Council.
Leaders from across Bristol Bay organizations gathered to recognize and celebrate their lifelong dedication to protecting Bristol Bay's fisheries, people and ways of life. These two fierce leaders from the Nushagak River paved the way in the fight to stop mines like Pebble and protect our region.
We are forever grateful for their vision, leadership, sacrifice, courage, and perseverance to uphold and protect our Native ways of life against all odds!
Quyana/chin'an Luki and Herman for your work protecting our way of life.
Stay tuned on our website for more opportunities to celebrate local elders in more communities.
