Empowering self-determined and sovereign Tribal communities in the Bristol Bay region is one of our four strategic focus areas.
Continuing our ways of life is rooted in strong self-governance and Native values. To ensure our ways of life are protected for future generations, UTBB works to advance the regional vision through advocacy rooted in a united and strong Tribal voice.
The Work
This work includes maintaining and building strong foundations for Tribal self-governance, meaning Tribes’ inherent right to govern themselves and make decisions about their future. We are stronger together. Working with a united Tribal voice strengthens our work toward strong Native Nations.
Our focus
The focus of this work includes building capacity through education, self- governance tools, and traditional justice systems- all rooted in Native values to better equip Tribes to build strong Tribal Nations.

Voices of Bristol Bay
We work to ensure the voices of Bristol Bay’s Tribal citizens are reaching the decision makers, elected leadership and federal agencies that make critical decisions affecting our communities. We also engage in grassroots organizing in the Bristol Bay region and beyond, ensuring that the public is engaged in and aware of issues affecting Bristol Bay.
