Bristol Bay Tribes Grateful for Biden Commitment to Stopping Pebble Mine

Dillingham, AK – This weekend Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden released a strong statement opposing the Pebble Mine and committing to stop the unpopular project. Bristol Bay tribes celebrated his dedication to protecting the region. Vice President Biden’s announcement comes amidst increasing calls for the Trump Administration to stop the Pebble Mine from sportsmen, tribes, commercial fishermen, and celebrities across the nation – including Donald Trump Jr.

Statement from Alannah Hurley, Executive Director of United Tribes of Bristol Bay:

"Our tribes really appreciate Vice President Biden's commitment to stopping the Pebble Mine. The bipartisan support for protecting Bristol Bay from this toxic project just confirms what Native people have always known: Bristol Bay is invaluable to the globe. In a time of great upheaval in this country, we are heartened by the strong support across the nation to protect our people, our fisheries, and our economy from the Pebble Mine. It’s time to end this toxic project."
