UTBB and Bristol Bay communities will wait on the outcome of the lawsuit to learn if protections for Bristol Bay remain in place. UTBB is a party to the case and will continue to defend Bristol Bay protections in federal court.

The Bristol Bay Forever Act would protect the entirety of the Bristol Bay Fisheries Reserve from large-scale mines like Pebble by banning the type of mining that is most harmful to salmon, called metallic sulfide mining.

Pebble’s recent shareholder letter is a reminder that the threat of Pebble very much persists, despite our progress. We need to stay vigilant and ready to take action.
