Pebble Mine Lawsuit Hearing

As we prepared for fishing season, there was a hearing at the federal courthouse in Anchorage for the lawsuit challenging the EPA’s 404(c) protections at the proposed Pebble mine site.

Representatives supporting Bristol Bay, groups like United Tribes of Bristol Bay, Bristol Bay Native Association, Bristol Bay Native Corporation, Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation, Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association, Commercial Fishermen for Bristol Bay, and Trout Unlimited, among others are participating in the lawsuit and argued in defense of the EPA’s decision alongside the U.S. Department of Justice.

This coalition is committed to defending Bristol Bay's fishery resources, and the cultures, subsistence way of life, jobs, and fishing and hunting opportunities they support.

It will likely be a number of months until Judge Gleason issues her decision in this case. As always, we will keep you posted when we learn the outcome.

Wishing you a wonderful fishing season and time with your families.
